George Michael rose to fame as half of the pop duo Wham! in 1981, with hit songs such as Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go and Last Christmas. In 1987, three years after the release of Careless Whisper, Michael split from Wham! to pursue his solo career. At that point, he won three American Music Awards and BRIT Awards, four MTV Music Video Awards, and two Grammy Awards, among many others. In his later years, he went through drug addiction, depression, numerous arrests, and health problems. In his final few months, George Michael was spotted enjoying a bite at a restaurant in Oxfordshire, in which he added a few pounds. On Christmas Day of 2016, Michael was found dead in his sleep. His manager claims that the cause of death was heart failure.
